On the Correlation between Pithiness in Petiole and Root of radish (Raphanus sativus L.)

Abstract

|
The characters of the pithiness in petiole and the correlation between the pithiness in petiole and root with different radish cultivars originated from Germany, Japan and Korea were investigated. The pithiness in petiole was remarkable in old leaves and 6∼8㎝ above from leaf basal than other part of petiole. The pithiness of petiole occured more frequently in early cultivars, especially German radish and radish grown in summer than in late cultivars and radish grown in autumn. The positive correlation coefficient between the pithiness in petiole and in root was found. The application possibility of the pithiness in petiole for the selection of mother plants with pithiness resistance was disccused.
